Properties remain under evacuation alert Thursday Just two properties in Princeton remain on evacuation alert after a geotechnical assessment of a suspected unstable slope revealed recommendations. On Wednesday, the City of Princeton Emergency Management announced that the hillside above Old Hedley Road had become unstable and had moved “significantly” over the past 24 hours. On Thursday, an assessment determined that all but two of the properties on Jacobson Street above Old Hedley Road no longer needed to be on alert. The precautionary evacuation alert remains in effect for 156 and 176 Jacobson Road. Old Hedley Road from Brown Bridge to Old Merritt Highway is closed to all traffic. The geotechnical engineer’s assessment indicated that remedial work should be carried out, but that hazardous trees would need to be removed first. “We are working on solutions to move heavy vehicles up and down the street in a safe manner,” said Mayor Spencer Coyne. “The restoration work has to be done before we can do that.”
